What is HMIS?

Why?

Developing and developed countries are increasingly seeking to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) or Universal Social Protection (USP) for their population. Interaction among patients, providers and payers creates complexity, risk and generate large volume of data. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can provide support and help for policy maker and users. Therefore, we can say that ICT is a back bone of a country to achieve and implement UHC or USP for their population.

HMIS is one of health systems related ICT focusing on online data capturing, extracting, monitoring and evaluating to minimize risk factor and interacting among all stakeholders  in the health care system. 

HMIS currently manipulate 60 million beneficiaries database in Pakistan and efficiently responding to almost 2000 users on daily basis. It is a powerful tool to strengthen strategic purchasing and digital processing of health system data. It has digitized following health processes across the country:
